Squad Training Equipment

Mini Squad & Junior Squad

All Squad swimmers are required to provide their own equipment including kick board and flippers. All swimmers are required to wear Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre Squad Cap during each training session.

Swimmers who do not have their cap at training will not be permitted in the water. Caps can be purchased from the swim school office for $12.00 each including GST.

I
t is advisable that swimmers have a spare pair of goggles and swimming cap in case of equipment failure.
Assessment

The squad coach is responsible for all squad assessments. All current squad swimmers will be assessed throughout the term, not on any particular day. If you have any enquires on your child’s progression please make an appointment with the swim school office on 9752 3666.

Movement from squad to squad is on coaches recommendation only.
Enrolment

ENROLMENT PROCEDURES FOR ALL EVOLUTION SQUADS AND SPRINT SQUAD WHO ATTEND ONE SESSION PER WEEK ONLY.

  • All SOPAC squad swimmers MUST enrol at the swim school office prior to participating in any training sessions.
  • All students must enrol/re-enrol EVERY term and EVERY school Holiday period if you wish to train during the scheduled dates.
  • Enrolments are accepted on a term-to-term basis ONLY. No advanced bookings can be made.

Re-enrolment

Preference
is given to those currently swimming in our program to enrol in the following term. It is important that you follow the procedure and enrol at the required time to ensure your place is secured. We cannot guarantee your position if your enrolment is late.

During the appropriate dates bring your re-enrolment form to the swim school office. Forms need to be accompanied with full payment. Your booking will be processed and a receipt issued as confirmation. The receipt will outline the start date, finish date, day, time and level. Please check all information on the receipt to ensure it is correct.

Please
note: No phone enrolments will be accepted during designated enrolment weeks. Bookings can only be accepted in person at the swim school office.

Important:
If you miss a term and wish to enrol at a later time, you will become a new enrolment and will need to enrol on our booking days by contacting the swim school and placing your name on our mailing list. If your child misses more than one term they will need to be reassessed beforehand.

Parents

Parents are not to be on pool deck during training. Parents are encouraged to watch sessions from the seating galleries in the Competition and Diving pools. Training pool sessions should be observed from the café or from the leisure side of the pool where possible. Parents are not to become involved in training sessions. Parents that wish to talk to the coaches must make an appointment outside training times.

Parental involvement in the sessions interferes with the disciplinary process of the session. It is distracting to the coaches and swimmers. The swimmers need to concentrate on instructions from the coach not the parents. Parental involvement undermines the confidence of the coach, and the swimmer’s confidence in the coach. Swimmers should be responsible for their own equipment. Please respect this request; its aim is to ensure an optimum learning and training environment. Parents who have concerns regarding their children’s training sessions should make an appointment at the swim school office.
Cancellations

As of 1 July 2008, refunds will NOT be offered for missed lessons or cancellation of the term.

The Swim School Office must be notified of ALL lessons missed before the lesson time. Notification of less than 24 hours before the lesson must be accompanied with a Doctor’s Certificate.

Lessons missed, which the Swim School Office has not been notified about, will not be refunded or credited and there is no entitlement to Make Up Lessons.

Attempts should be made to arrange Make Up Lessons for those lessons missed unless illness is ongoing.
  • Credits are only considered for students who have incurred the following Major illness (contagious infections, broken bones), hospitalisation, moving house or relocation (out of the area - 10km)
  • Credits will not be granted for any other reason. This includes absences due to going away on holidays, exams or clashes with other activities.
  • Credits are calculated from the date the Swim School was notified of the cancellation.
  • Applications for credit need to be made within one month from the date of cancellation.
  • Credits are only considered for absences of three or more consecutive lessons.
  • Credit-money will be credited to you to use for future swim school programs and will remain on your file for 12 months.
