WORK EXPERIENCE

The Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic & Athletic Centres provide valuable work experience opportunities for tertiary and high school students.

All requests for work experience must be in writing and addressed to:

Your request can be hand delivered, posted, faxed or emailed to us.

In order to determine the applicants’ suitability for the work, we request that the following information be submitted:

1. Application for Work Experience Form (click here to download)
2. A resume outlining your / the applicant's skills, experience and ability.
3. A copy of current Worker's Compensation and Indemnity Insurance. Students can contact their school or TAFE to find out more about insurance.

A written response from SOPAC approving or declining your work experience request will be forwarded within 2-3 working days after the request is received.

GUIDELINES FOR WORK EXPERIENCE

1. The period of work experience for any one participant is negotiable depending on the needs and ability of both placement and section.
2. Within each main functional area of SOPAC there is generally to be no more than one placement at any one time.
3. Work experience placement requests will be considered in the order that they are received.
4. Work Experience participants are to be treated as volunteers and will not receive payment for the placement or any incurred expenses.
5. The educational institution or organisation responsible for the participant must provide evidence-indemnifying SOPAC against Public Liability Claims as a result of the placement.
6. Due to the sensitive nature of some areas, the work experience may not have “hands on” experience.
7. Participants must also abide by SOPAC’s policies, particularly SOPAC’s OHS Policy, Code of Conduct and EEO Policy.
